RESTORATION
WORK
- our Restoration Work commenced on
Monday 17 January 2006
. Owing to site cabins, scaffolding and
building materials it will not be possible to use the car park for
about 16 weeks — the disabled bays will be available — please
leave these for those who really need them. Limited parking is
available at the Vicarage. Pedestrian access will be maintained
through the Church grounds during the majority of the works but
there may be occasions when this is not possible for short periods
due to the nature of the construction works — this will be well
signed posted.
Due
to Health and Safety restrictions it will not be possible to
access the Church at the Tower Door — the only accesses to
Church will be via the Main Door. All key-holders are politely
requested to take extra precautions during these works — if out
of view of the main door please lock yourself in — if you are
holding a meeting and it is not in the Church Room please lock the
door after the last person has arrived. Our Architect and
Contractor have expressed their concerns that unfortunately
building sites do attract the vandals and they will be taking all
precautions to protect their property but it is our responsibility
to protect the inside of the Church — open doors may well be an
invitation! The Contractor is also requesting that anyone using
the building other than for Services also takes responsibility for
the gates — they are providing their own security locks and keys
can be given to authorized users — but we must abide by their
conditions and that is that the gates are closed and locked during
the hours of darkness. So if we have meetings etc. it will be the
responsibility of the key-holder to ensure these are secured when
the last person is in and the last person leaves. Please do help
us through this period — the restrictions may seem inconvenient
but as our Architect has said precautions have to be taken to
ensure the safety of persons using the building, the building and
its contents as well.
